Landscape Maintenance Supervisor - Gardening & Horticulture

Atzinger Gardens is hiring a Landscape Maintenance Foreman / Horticulture Team Leader to lead a skilled crew maintaining high-end residential gardens in Ann Arbor, MI.
This is a hands-on landscape maintenance and horticulture leadership role focused on plant health, pruning, and detailed garden care—not lawn mowing or hardscape installation.
Ideal for experienced landscape foremen, crew leaders, or horticulturists ready to grow with a respected, family-owned company.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and work alongside a garden crew performing detailed residential landscape maintenance using sound horticultural practices

• Direct daily work including pruning, weeding, mulching, fertilizing, planting, and seasonal garden tasks

• Diagnose plant health issues, pests, and cultural problems; recommend and implement appropriate solutions

• Coordinate with the Head Gardener on seasonal priorities, pruning plans, and garden improvements

• Manage daily job logistics including tools, materials, site setup, and crew workflow

• Oversee and ensure safe, compliant pesticide applications following IPM principles

• Document job notes, material usage, and site observations accurately

• Communicate clearly with the Owner and Operations Manager regarding progress, needs, and crew performance

• Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, quality standards, and horticultural practices

• Maintain a professional presence with clients and represent Atzinger Gardens on-site

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of experience in ornamental gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance

• Strong plant identification skills and a working understanding of soil health and pest management

• Prior experience leading or mentoring a crew (formal or informal leadership)

• Ability to organize work, communicate clearly, and keep projects moving

• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles

• Physically capable of outdoor work, including lifting up to 50 lbs

• Horticulture degree or certification is a plus, but not required

• Familiarity with IPM and pesticide use is preferred

Pay & Compensation

• $21–$27 per hour , based on experience

• Paid weekly via direct deposit

Schedule:
Schedule four days between Monday and Friday, approximately 7:00 AM–6:00 PM
Four 10-hour days per week
Occasional weekends as needed
Seasonal position with strong potential for year-round advancement
