Pathologists' Assistant Job Details

• Location: Lansing, Michigan (48912) – Michigan healthcare jobs
• Setting: Hospital Laboratory (Anatomic Pathology Histology Section)
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Contract)
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• End Date: December 2, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day Shift, 5x8-Hour (09:00 - 17:30)
• Hours per Week: 40
• No weekends, no floating, no call requirements
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2700 - $2770 per week

Pathologists' Assistant Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pathologists' Assistant or Lab Tech
• PA(ASCP) certification – Required
• Graduate from a Baccalaureate Pathologists' Assistant program OR completion of a post-bachelor's program from an approved school
• Proof of high school education and secondary education
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR); EPIC experience preferred
• First-time travelers and experienced healthcare professionals welcome

Pathologists' Assistant Responsibilities

• Prepare, examine, and dissect surgical pathology specimens
• Dictate gross descriptions and perform frozen sections
• Process 600-700 blocks daily, including complex surgical cases, biopsies, and outreach specimens
• Section specimens and prepare tissues for histological processing
• Perform specimen receipt, labeling, bone marrow sampling, and frozen section cut/stain
• Conduct post-mortem examinations and tissue sampling for microscopic analysis
• Utilize gross/microscopic photography and image analysis tools
• Review patient clinical information (scans, X-rays, lab results)
• Work primarily at one location (main hospital or reference laboratory) with flexibility as needed
