Salary Range: $56,000 - $83,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed dimensional and visual inspections of first article parts against engineering drawings and specifications.
• Utilize precision measuring equipment, including CMM, calipers, micrometers, and gauges, for accurate data collection.
• Generate and complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), typically AS9102 forms, documenting all inspection results.
• Interpret complex engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
• Identify, document, and communicate non-conformances to engineering, quality, and production teams.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to resolve discrepancies and improve manufacturability.
• Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Demonstrated expertise in operating a variety of precision measurement equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, CMM).
• Proven experience generating and reviewing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), ideally following AS9102 requirements.
• Solid understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and relevant manufacturing quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills for accurate record-keeping and non-conformance reporting.

Bonus Qualifications

• ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) certification
• Proficiency in CMM programming or advanced metrology software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso)
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
• Ability to train production staff or junior inspectors on inspection techniques
• Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) data analysis and interpretation
