Our non-profit client is seeking an experienced Part-Time Controller for a long-term engagement. This position offers an opportunity to oversee critical financial operations in a collaborative and dynamic environment. As a key player in the interim period, you will ensure smooth transitions and accurate financial management while maintaining a strong team atmosphere. This onsite role is located in Dearborn, Michigan and report directly to the CFO.

The day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Oversee month-end closing processes, ensuring accurate journal entries and timely financial reporting.

• Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for presentation to the board.

• Manage account reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial records.

• Supervise and collaborate with team members handling accounts payable, payroll, and reimbursements.

• Coordinate year-end financial activities, including preparation for audits and compliance requirements.

• Ensure seamless knowledge transfer by learning and documenting current processes from the outgoing controller.

• Maintain effective communication and collaboration within the team to foster a positive work environment.

• Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy.

• Provide guidance and support to team members during the interim period.

• Utilize advanced financial systems and tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have the following skill set:

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles.

• Proficiency in month-end close, financial reporting, journal entries, and account reconciliation.

• Strong knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and reimbursement processes.

• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Experience working in a team-oriented setting with a collaborative mindset.

• Familiarity with advanced financial systems such as Abila or similar tools.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
