POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Position : Maintenance Technician - Housing - Full Time - 2 Positions

100% GRANT FUNDED

Hiring Range : $16.71 - $19.78 - $22.82 Commensurate with Verified Qualifications

Status : Non- Exempt; Bi-weekly Pay Background Check : Basic

Pay Grade : NE 6

Indian Preference applies in accordance with Ordinance #15-600-02

Summary :

The position is responsible for the completion of maintenance work order requests within assigned areas, and for maintaining a safe and properly functioning work environment.

Employment Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 18 years of age; and
  • High School Diploma or GED; and
  • Work experience of two (2) or more years in the maintenance field; and
  • Valid Driver’s License with the ability to be insured under the Tribe’s insurance policy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs routine and skilled work involving installations and/or repairs in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, appliances, and HVAC.
  2. Completes work orders and prepares daily maintenance records to include items such as labor and materials.
  3. Schedule and perform preventative maintenance activities.
  4. Perform grounds work such as lawn maintenance, landscaping, and debris removal.
  5. Read and work from blueprints, sketches, diagrams and related materials to determine required work for assigned project(s).
  6. Practice workplace safety as defined or adopted by the Tribe. Maintain the safe operation of equipment and vehicles used in the course of work.
  7. Maintain inventory controls of tools and equipment, referring needs to supervisor.
  8. Works from elevated positions using scaffolding or ladders and safety equipment.
  9. Provide snow removal and salting service during winter season.
  10. Report equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions or situations, or items requiring maintenance to supervisor.
  11. Maintain confidentiality and comply with department and company policies, rules, and procedures.
  12. All other position related duties as assigned by supervisor.

During the course of employment, the employee will consistently utilize and demonstrate good interpersonal and teamwork skills, attention to detail, the ability to work cooperatively with other departments, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Physical Demands

Frequent walking, standing, lifting, reaching, bending, kneeling, and stretching are to be expected. The nature of the work also involves work from heights and the use and exposure to various chemicals, solvents, and machinery, resulting in the need to wear protective clothing such as rubber gloves, and eye, hearing and/or foot protection. An employee will need normal, or corrected to normal range of sight and hearing, significant fine finger dexterity, and will carry or move work-related materials weighing from 50 - 100 pounds with assistance on occasion.

Working Environment

Work is performed in a variety of environments that may range from cold and dry to hot and humid, and indoors to outdoors. The work may also take place in confined spaces. The employee’s work schedule may periodically need to be flexible and adjusted according to business need, including weekends and holidays. The employee must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional, as well as be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Occasional overnight or local travel will be necessary to attend meetings or trainings.
