CVOR Surgical Tech Job Details

• Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan 49048
• Facility Setting: Hospital – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Contract)
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 29, 2025
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift Schedule: 4x10-hour day shifts (07:00 - 17:30)
• On-Call Requirement: 2 call shifts per week plus every other weekend
• Weekend Call: Every other weekend (24/7)
• Orientation: 24-30 hours
• Scrub Color: Provided by hospital
• Charting System: Cerner Surginet

CVOR Surgical Technologist Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist (CVOR experience required)
• Current BLS certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential
• Valid Michigan state license (pending accepted; must participate in licensure project if needed)
• Proficiency with Cerner charting system
• Previous charge experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Level I, LTAC, and community hospital experience preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (no local candidates)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Ability to complete up to 8 hours of pre-start modules

Key Responsibilities for CVOR Surgical Tech

• Assist in cardiovascular and general surgical procedures in a high-volume operating room
• Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields using aseptic technique
• Manage and process surgical instruments and advanced equipment, including robotic systems (Da Vinci, Mako, Mazor, Monarch)
• Support patient care for adult populations in a 16-bed unit with 10 operating rooms
• Participate in on-call rotations, including overnight and weekend coverage
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and utilize interpretation services as needed
• Accurately document procedures and patient information in Cerner Surginet
• Comply with hospital policies regarding professional conduct and attendance
