Summary:

OURO Interactive is Oculus Studio’s first in-house game studio dedicated exclusively to creating flagship games for Horizon Worlds. As a Principal Tech Artist for OURO Interactive, you’ll be at the forefront of shipping cross-platform VR/MR and mobile experiences for the ever-expanding Horizon metaverse.

Required Skills:

Principal Technical Artist Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain art production workflows and pipelines by creating features, tools, plugins, and scripts to aid artists, reduce pain points, and speed up iteration cycles

2. Provide input on the ongoing development of the primary game engine, editor, and tooling to our cross functional partners on other teams

3. Maintain and adhere to a consistent art style and ensure technical requirements for assets are enforced

4. Optimize environments to keep artistic fidelity as high as possible while maintaining performance

5. Support the ingestion of finished art to the game engine, assisting in asset performance and validation

6. Create and maintain technical documentation

7. Train and mentor other artists to grow their technical skills

8. Develop the team’s shader tech and implement high-level features and maintain low-level shader code organization and optimization

9. Collaborate closely with graphics programming and our core tech teams on features that keep the game performant and achieve the highest artistic standards

10. Support the content team in debugging issues with tools, assets, or framerate

Minimum Qualifications:

11. 7+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist shipping a major title in a relevant role

12. Experienced with art and content pipelines and workflows for lighting, VFX, shaders, 2D and 3D art

13. Highly proficient communication skills and capacity to act as an ambassador between Art, Design, and Engineering

14. Experience in shader languages (GLSL, ShaderLab, HLSL)

15. Experience with Game engines such as Unity, Unreal, and creator-facing UGC tools

16. Experience creating scripts and plugins for DCC's using Python, etc

17. Working knowledge of Blender and Substance Designer+Painter

18. Experience in pipelines for high and low-poly modeling, unwrapping, baking, texturing and material creation

19. Understanding of graphics for rendering, modeling, texturing, shaders, rigging, animation, and lighting

20. Experience profiling in-game assets and guiding the team in optimization to ensure that art assets are performant and fit within their budgets for draw calls, poly counts, texture memory limits, without compromising artistic quality

21. Experience working with TypeScript and React

22. Experience working on and supporting User Generated Content

23. Experience in Mixed Reality or Mobile pipelines

24. Experience with integrating AI models, or working with pipelines that have introduced AI integration

25. C++ graphics programming experience

26. Demonstrated in-depth experience with real-time graphics pipelines

27. Experience working in pushing high visual fidelity content in limited hardware

28. Experience in content creation software as a user or tools developer such as Houdini, Substance Designer, Blender, etc

Public Compensation:

$181,000/year to $250,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
