The Role:

At General Motors, we are developing the embedded software and control systems that enable advanced vehicle performance, drivability, and system integration. We are seeking a Transmission Software Scrum Lead to support agile delivery for a high-visibility vehicle application focused on new transmission controls development.

In this role, you will lead agile execution across a cross-functional software and controls team, helping drive alignment between software, systems, calibration, validation, and integration stakeholders. You will support efficient planning and execution while helping the team manage dependencies, remove impediments, maintain delivery focus, and improve overall flow.

This role is well suited for a leader who combines strong Agile fundamentals with cross-functional coordination, clear communication, and a disciplined approach to execution in a technically complex development environment.

What You’ll Do:

Lead Agile ceremonies for the team, including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and other recurring execution forums.

Partner with engineering, systems, calibration, validation, and integration stakeholders to maintain alignment on priorities, dependencies, and delivery timing.

Support planning and execution activities across the development lifecycle, including coordination for larger program milestones and team commitments.

Help the team identify, track, and remove impediments that affect delivery, quality, or execution efficiency.

Drive transparency in team progress, risks, issues, and dependency management through clear communication and structured follow-up.

Work closely with technical leaders and key stakeholders to translate priorities into actionable team plans and execution focus.

Promote strong Agile discipline, predictable execution, and continuous improvement across team processes and ways of working.

Support backlog health by helping ensure epics, stories, and tasks are high quality, appropriately defined, prioritized, sequenced for execution, and managed effectively in Jira to support predictable and efficient sprint execution.

Facilitate cross-functional problem solving when execution issues span multiple teams, domains, or organizations.

Help establish and maintain effective team operating rhythms, metrics, and reporting to support delivery and decision-making.

Encourage a collaborative, accountable team environment that supports high-quality delivery in a fast-paced technical setting.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

5+ years experience working in Agile product development or software delivery environments.

Experience leading Scrum ceremonies and supporting Agile team execution in a structured and disciplined manner.

Experience coordinating work across cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and technical disciplines.

Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.

Demonstrated ability to identify execution risks, manage dependencies, and help remove blockers.

Experience working with technical teams in software, embedded systems, controls, or related engineering environments.

Ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining focus on team delivery commitments and overall program objectives.

Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority and drive alignment across stakeholder groups.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-moving development environment.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

Master's degree in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline.

8+ years experience working in Agile product development or software delivery environments.

Scrum Master certification or other Agile certification. Experience supporting embedded software, controls, or vehicle-related development teams.

Familiarity with software and systems development processes in an automotive or other technically complex product environment.

Experience coordinating cross-functional execution involving software, systems, calibration, validation, and integration teams.

Experience with Agile planning tools, including Jira, along with work tracking systems and delivery metrics.

Experience supporting larger program milestones, dependency management, and cross-team coordination.

Ability to help teams strengthen execution discipline, continuous improvement, and delivery predictability.
