This role combines learning and development expertise with modern technology to drive the digital transformation of a training function. The Training Specialist / Learning & Development Technology Specialist designs, develops, and maintains advanced learning ecosystems, automates departmental workflows, and pioneers AI-driven educational solutions. Partnering closely with product development and engineering teams, this position supports key competency training and learning solutions that empower a technical workforce. The ideal candidate applies adult learning principles, strong project management, and solid programming and data skills to create impactful, scalable learning experiences while fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated learning ecosystems that support technical and engineering-focused training programs.

  • Apply adult learning principles to create engaging, effective, and scalable training solutions for a technical workforce.

  • Drive the digital transformation of the learning and development function by introducing and managing modern learning technologies and platforms.

  • Support key engineering strategic initiatives by aligning training programs with product development and functional team needs.

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver competency-based training programs that build critical skills across technical teams.

  • Automate departmental workflows and learning processes using tools such as Power Automate and related platforms.

  • Pioneer and implement AI-driven educational solutions, including integrations using Python and relevant AI frameworks.

  • Administer and support learning management systems (LMS), ensuring compliance with SCORM and related API protocols.

  • Manage and maintain learning content, data, and knowledge repositories using SharePoint Online and other collaboration tools.

  • Coordinate and support training events, workshops, and learning initiatives, including logistics and event planning.

  • Create and deliver clear, engaging presentations and training sessions tailored to different audiences and stakeholder groups.

  • Develop, communicate, and track project plans, timelines, and status updates using appropriate project management tools.

  • Analyze learning data and metrics using tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, and BigQuery to evaluate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to gather requirements, define learning strategies, and ensure alignment with business objectives.

  • Provide customer support for learners and stakeholders, addressing questions, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a positive learning experience.

  • Use strong analytical and critical thinking skills to move projects from ambiguity to clear execution and measurable outcomes.

  • Maintain and enhance knowledge management practices, ensuring that learning resources and documentation are organized, accessible, and up to date.

  • Leverage Git and GitHub or similar tools to manage code, version control, and collaboration for learning-related applications and automations.

  • Continuously explore new technologies, tools, and methods to improve training delivery, learning strategy, and digital learning solutions.

  • Demonstrate a growth mindset by actively seeking feedback, learning new skills, and applying new perspectives to improve training programs and technologies.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Computer Science, or a related technical field with proven experience in training and project management.

  • At least 2 years of work experience in training, project management, computer science, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to develop, communicate, and track project plans and status using appropriate tools.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, and OneNote.

  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, including data management and collaboration site usage.

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to move projects from ambiguity to execution.

  • Demonstrated presentation skills with excellent oral and written communication, including the ability to adjust messaging for different audiences.

  • Proven ability to coordinate training programs, including training coordination, project support, and event planning.

  • Experience in training and development, including designing, delivering, or supporting learning programs.

  • Strong customer support orientation, with the ability to assist learners and stakeholders effectively.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated growth mindset and passion for continuous learning.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and general desktop productivity tools.

  • Experience with project coordination and benchmarking in a learning or organizational development context.

  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate learning needs, data, and outcomes to inform decisions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Practical knowledge of Python for AI integration, application development, and data transformation.

  • Practical experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps (Canvas and Model-driven) and Power Automate.

  • Experience with SharePoint Online administration, including SharePoint Lists, JSON formatting, and PnP PowerShell.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.

  • Experience with AI and data-related tools, including API frameworks, generative AI solutions, Terraform, BigQuery, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Power BI.

  • Experience with Git and GitHub for code management, version control, and collaboration.

  • Experience with learning management system (LMS) administration and understanding of SCORM and related API protocols.

  • Familiarity with Power Apps Studio, Copilot Studio, and custom connectors within the Power Platform ecosystem.

  • Experience with Python development environments such as Visual Studio Code, and familiarity with core Python, Python for data analysis, and Python for AI.

  • Knowledge of knowledge management practices and learning strategy development.

  • Experience in application development related to learning tools, automation, or internal applications.

  • Background in training development, including content creation, curriculum design, or e-learning development.

  • Experience with event planning in a learning, corporate training, or organizational development context.

  • Comfort working with data management tools and processes to support reporting, analytics, and continuous improvement of training programs.

Work Environment

The role operates in a professional, technology-driven environment focused on supporting a technical and engineering-oriented workforce. You will work extensively with digital tools and platforms, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Power Platform, Python development environments, learning management systems, and cloud-based services such as Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure. The position emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product development and engineering, and involves coordinating training events, managing digital learning content, and supporting users across the organization. Work is primarily computer-based, leveraging tools such as Power BI, SQL, Git, GitHub, Power Apps, Power Automate, and AI frameworks to build and maintain modern learning solutions. This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.33 - $26.33/hr.
