Gardening Crew Member (Entry-Level Landscape Maintenance)

Atzinger Gardens is a locally owned company serving the Ann Arbor area, focused on designing, installing, and maintaining beautiful private gardens. We’re hiring a Gardener Crew Member to work outdoors in some of the region’s most attractive residential landscapes while building hands-on skills in horticulture and landscape installation. Responsibilities

• Complete garden maintenance work in residential gardens, including weeding, pruning, mulching, planting, transplanting, and seasonal care
• Support garden installation projects, including demolition, soil preparation, and basic hardscape construction (stone pathways, patios, and dry-stacked walls)
• Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and supplies on job sites and at the shop
• Communicate clearly with Crew Leaders and teammates to hit daily and weekly goals
• Notice and address maintenance needs in client gardens as they come up
• Help create a positive, respectful, collaborative work environment
• Track hours accurately, communicate schedule changes in advance, and consistently show up on time
• Perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50+ lbs and working outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions

Qualifications

• Strong interest in gardening, plants, and outdoor landscape design
• Willingness to learn plant identification, soil management, and installation techniques (training provided)
• Ability to recognize basic plant and weed characteristics
• Reliable personal transportation (mileage reimbursement available for work-related travel)
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on hands and knees outdoors in varied weather conditions
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to work at least 4 full days per week, seasonally from March through December

Compensation

• $16.50 to $20 per hour , based on experience and skills
