Position Summary:
New Haven Community Schools is seeking 2 dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our Elementary Special Education our team(Endeavour and New Haven Elementary). The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring access to the general education curriculum and promoting success in academic, social, and emotional development. Candidates with the ability or willingness to obtain Teacher Consultant Certification are highly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student learning and inclusion.
- Provide direct instruction, accommodations, and modifications tailored to students’ individual needs.
- Collect and analyze data to track student progress and inform instruction.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and professional development activities.
- Serve as a resource to staff and families regarding special education programming, strategies, and supports.
Qualifications :
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education (e.g., Learning Disabilities, Cognitive Impairment, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of special education laws, instructional strategies, and behavioral supports.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
- Preferred: Ability to obtain Teacher Consultant Certification or willingness to pursue certification upon hire.
- Pass background check
Preferred Experience :
- Experience providing instruction and support in an inclusive elementary setting.
- Demonstrated success collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and differentiated instructional practices.
