Title: Girls Tennis Head Coach

Reports to: Athletic Director

Opportunity:

The Ovid-Elsie Area Schools has an opening for a Girls Tennis Head Coach. The girls tennis team competes in the MMAC and is a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association. OEAS takes pride in student-athlete participation and the development of high levels of performance, accountability and responsibility in the classroom and on the playing fields.

Job Description:

A coach must demonstrate strong leadership in player and staff development, sportsmanship, integrity and character. Qualified candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills. They must demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the skills and strategies of the sport of tennis as it pertains to interscholastic athletics.

Responsibilities:

• Annual rules education, CPR Certification, and adhering to all MHSAA guidelines
• Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions to develop players’ skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork
• Supervise athletes during all practices, matches, and related activities
• Promote academic achievement, discipline, and positive character development among student-athletes
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff and administration
• Help run and supervise summer weight room sessions
• Maintain all records, statistics, and awards information

Qualifications:

• Possess a great love of the sport and high interest in helping individuals reach their highest potential
• Current knowledge of rules, fundamentals, teamwork and the ability to relate to and teach teenage students
• Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes
• Evidence of successful coaching experience and playing experience
• Evidence of expertise in teaching the fundamentals of individual skills and team play
• Evidence of the ability to develop a successful program
• Strong organizational and communication skills
