Job Title: Accounting Specialist – Collections & Specialty Clients
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Specialist to focus on collections and manage financial relationships with our specialty clients. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely payments, maintaining positive client relationships, and supporting accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of persistence, professionalism, and analytical skills to manage complex accounts and navigate sensitive collection situations.
Key Responsibilities:
Collections Management:
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on past-due balances.
- Initiate and manage collection activities with tact and professionalism.
- Develop and maintain tracking systems to improve collection efficiency.
- Collaborate with sales and account management teams to resolve payment disputes.
Specialty Client Accounting:
- Handle invoicing, reconciliations, and reporting for clients with customized or non-standard billing arrangements.
- Serve as the main point of contact for accounting-related inquiries from specialty clients.
- Ensure accurate recording of revenue and adherence to client contract terms.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Identify trends or potential risks in payment behavior and escalate as needed.
Process Improvement:
- Recommend and implement process enhancements to improve collections workflow and customer experience.
- Help refine billing and communication practices tailored to complex accounts.
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable or collections, ideally with exposure to specialty or high-touch clients.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- · Ability to manage sensitive client relationships with discretion and professionalism.
- Detail-oriented and comfortable handling a fast-paced workload.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with HubSpot, Oracle, Smartsheet, and Salesforce.
