Physician - Psychiatrist (Delta Charter Township)
Summary
VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS) is actively recruiting for a full-time outpatient psychiatrist at the Clinical Instructor level or higher. Ideal candidates will have expertise in psychiatric assessment and management of patients with high complexity across a broad diagnostic range. They should be able to work in interdisciplinary teams and actively participate in supervision and education of medical students, psychiatry residents, and allied health trainees.
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial qualification standards are deemed to meet the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available)
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved medical school
- Current full and unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
- Completed residency training approved by the VA or equivalent
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Board-eligible or certified in Psychiatry, with strong clinical and leadership skills
Additional preferred qualifications include board certification in Geriatric, Addiction, or Consult-Liaison Psychiatry, experience with Telepsychiatry, and eligibility for appointment at the University of Michigan Medical School as a Clinical Track Instructor or higher.
Physical Requirements:
- Office-based, sedentary work; no manual labor required
- Capable of using a computer for electronic charting
Duties
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric care for veterans across multiple sites including Ann Arbor, Flint, Jackson, and Toledo
- Participate in training and supervise psychiatric trainees
- Engage in clinical video conferencing (Tele-psychiatry) and on-site coverage as needed
- Contribute to academic activities and research
- Opportunities for medical leadership roles
Additional Information
