Recruiting specialist

Job Summary
Official Driving School is seeking a motivated and organized Recruiting Specialist to join our growing Human Resources team in Royal Oak, Michigan .

In this role, you will help recruit, interview, and onboard qualified staff across all departments — with a focus on hiring certified and trainee Driving Instructors, as well as operational and customer service team members across Michigan and Ohio.

This position reports directly to the HR Director and plays an essential role in ensuring we meet student demand while maintaining our commitment to providing safe, high-quality driver education. We welcome candidates who are eager to learn and grow in recruiting and human resources.

What You'll Do

• Develop and execute recruiting strategies to attract instructional and operational candidates across Michigan and Ohio.
• Post jobs, manage applicant pipelines, and conduct phone and virtual interviews.
• Build relationships through community partnerships, workforce agencies (e.g., Michigan Works), and job fairs.
• Guide new hires through onboarding and ensure completion of pre-employment and compliance requirements.
• Maintain accurate data in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and report recruiting metrics to HR leadership.

What We're Looking For

• 1–3 years of experience in recruiting, HR, or management
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree in HR or related field preferred.
• Experience recruiting for licensed or regulated positions (preferred).
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Forms).
• Familiarity with Indeed, Zoom, and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel locally for recruiting events or meetings as needed.
