The Senior Director of Internal Communications will lead the strategy and execution of enterprise-wide internal communications across Learning Care’s dispersed workforce of more than 22,000 employees. This role is responsible for connecting employees to the organization’s mission and strategy, strengthening culture, and driving engagement to improve business performance. This leader will oversee internal channels and platforms, including the company intranet and other distribution tools, to ensure consistent, timely, and impactful communication across more than 1,100 school locations and corporate teams. This leader must be a strategic storyteller who builds strong cross-functional relationships to deeply understand operations and translate business priorities into clear, compelling narratives for employees at all levels.
Essential Functions:
Internal Communications Strategy
- Develop and lead a comprehensive internal communications strategy aligned to business priorities and organizational goals.
- Ensure employees understand company strategy, performance, key initiatives, and how their work contributes to mission and outcomes.
- Establish clear communication rhythms and governance across corporate and field leadership.
- Measure the effectiveness of communications and continuously refine the approach to increase engagement and impact.
Employee Engagement & Storytelling
- Build strong relationships across operations, HR, marketing, and leadership teams to surface meaningful stories from the field.
- Translate operational priorities into accessible, engaging content tailored to diverse employee audiences.
- Highlight employee impact, school success stories, and mission-driven moments that reinforce culture and purpose.
- Develop messaging that resonates with both frontline educators and corporate team members.
Channels & Platforms
- Oversee strategy, content, and ongoing optimization of the company intranet.
- Evaluate and enhance communication tools and distribution channels to effectively reach employees across more than 1,100 school locations.
- Ensure communications are mobile-friendly and accessible for a workforce with varying levels of access.
- Establish channel standards, editorial calendars, and content governance.
Executive & Leadership Communications
- Partner closely with senior leadership to develop internal messaging, presentations, talking points, and strategic updates.
- Prepare executives for company-wide meetings, leadership forums, and internal announcements.
- Ensure clarity, authenticity, and alignment in executive voice and messaging.
- Support cascading communications through regional and field leaders in partnership with the Field Communications Team.
Town Halls & Enterprise Events
- Lead planning and execution of company-wide town halls, leadership meetings, and virtual or in-person enterprise events.
- Develop themes, messaging frameworks, and supporting materials to drive engagement and reinforce priorities.
- Incorporate feedback mechanisms to strengthen two-way communication.
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Partner with External Communications to ensure consistency and alignment of messaging across internal and external audiences.
- Collaborate with HR on culture, engagement, and change management communications.
- Support change communications related to growth, transformation initiatives, or organizational updates.
Minimum Job Qualifications :
- Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field
- Experience
- 12+ years of progressive experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or related field.
- Proven experience leading communications for a large, dispersed, frontline workforce.
- Demonstrated success building and managing intranets and multi-channel internal communications platforms.
- Strong executive communications experience, including speechwriting and presentation development.
- Experience supporting organizational change and driving employee engagement initiatives.
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, and editing skills.
- Experience in multi-site, field-based organizations (education, retail, healthcare, hospitality, or similar) preferred.

Travel:
Traveling is necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
- 10% or more domestic travel to and from multiple facilities or worksites that may require multiple modes of transportation.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation based on position, education and experience. Bi-weekly paid.
- Base salary range: $180-200k
- This position is eligible for our Support Central bonus program which is based on annual achievement of company performance.

This position is eligible for paid time off. All Corporate employees are enrolled in our Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) plan. This plan allows for flexibility and discretion between employees and managers in taking time off - with no set accrual for vacation or sick time. Employees can use Flexible PTO for any reason and is compliant with the Colorado Healthy Families Work Act.
