Embedded Systems Engineer | Paw Paw, MI

Salary Range: $83,000 - $128,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded hardware and firmware for manufacturing equipment and control systems.
• Implement and debug real-time embedded software for factory automation, robotics, and industrial IoT applications.
• Integrate embedded systems with sensors, actuators, PLCs, and other industrial control components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to embedded system performance, reliability, and connectivity on the production floor.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to define system requirements and optimize solutions for production efficiency and yield.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for embedded system designs, code, and test procedures.
• Support the deployment, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of embedded systems in a manufacturing environment.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded software development.
• Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, PIC) and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Strong understanding of hardware-software interaction and debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG).
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET).
• Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT).

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT, PROFINET, OPC UA).
• Familiarity with industrial control systems (ICS) or programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles applied to operational technology (OT) environments.
• Experience integrating embedded systems with cloud platforms or data analytics tools for manufacturing optimization.
