Field Service Technician (Mechanical)

Location: Livonia, MI (Travel Required)

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $25–$35/hour

About the Opportunity

A growing industrial services company is seeking a Field Service Technician to support installation, inspection, and service of material handling and plant service equipment in manufacturing facilities.

This position is ideal for someone with machine builder, millwright, or mechanical service experience who enjoys hands-on work installing conveyors, lifts, cranes, and automated material handling systems.

Technicians will travel to customer sites to install equipment, troubleshoot systems, and ensure installations meet safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and assemble material handling equipment including cranes, jib cranes, conveyors, and lifts

• Support installation of plant service systems including carts and automation equipment

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and installation schematics

• Perform equipment inspections and adjustments during installation and service work

• Maintain safety and quality standards during all field work

• Complete service reports and communicate updates to internal teams and customers

• Travel to customer facilities for installations and service work

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as a Machine Builder, Millwright, Field Service Technician, or Mechanical Installer

• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new equipment quickly

• Experience installing conveyors, lifts, cranes, or similar equipment preferred

• Basic electrical or controls knowledge is a plus

• Experience with hydraulics or pneumatics preferred

• Ability to read mechanical drawings and blueprints

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly

• Strong communication and customer service skills
