Summary

The essential functions of this position include, but are notlimited to, assisting in patient care performing cardiologyprocedures, such as, Holter monitoring, cardiac stress testing (GXT, Echo stress, nuclear stress (treadmill and pharmacologicoptions), ECGs, event recorders, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Providing supervision during exercise sessions, risk factor assessment,appropriate referrals, patient education and quality assurance.Being able to assess and work closely with Cardiologists to ensureappropriate care is provided in a timely manner. Work efficiently with other departments and correlate exams as a team. Other functions that may be assigned.

Responsibilities

(25%)* Supervision of patients undergoing cardiac stress testing such astreadmill exercise or pharmacologic testing. Responsible to act asa patient advocate reviewing and obtaining patient medical recordhistory to verify patient safety. Works closely with overseeing Cardiologist to assure the correct examination is being performed.Responsible for monitoring patient vitals such as, blood pressure, oxygen levels, heart rate, etc.

(25%)* Performs necessary ECGs in hospital departments and outpatientwalk in exams. Ability to maintain ECG completions through computerapplication to verify reads, attach orders, correct errors, and assign to Cardiologist.

(25%)* Performs accurate pre and post-processing of testing. Accuratelyutilizes all computer systems and programs associated withCardiovascular Services. (25%)* Performs all other cardiac testing such as Holter monitorapplication and scanning along with event monitor application, andambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides excellent customer service. Demonstrates professionalism and courtesy at all times toward allemployees, physicians, associated staff and MyMichigan Healthcustomers and potential customers. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental and hospitalgoals; attends/participates in departmental and hospital meetings. Performs other work-related duties as assigned including assistingin other areas of the department as needed. Provides department specific duties days, nights, and weekends asassigned Assists in the establishment and maintenance of the students Assists in their educational experience as needed. Responsible for assisting during emergency situations, addressingadministrative concerns, supervising collegiate interns, orderingnecessary supplies, overseeing all program duties. Assists in obtaining physical assessment data including but notlimited to: blood pressure, heart rate, oximetry reading, lungsounds, blood glucose levels and EKG monitoring. Assures a safe environment for the patients to exercise. Instructspatients on safe use of equipment and reinforces. Utilizesappropriate lift equipment on a routine basis. Markets to physicians by direct contact. Possesses an understanding of infection prevention and controlmeasures designed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Maintains the standards of the infection prevention and controlpolicies. Follows hand hygiene policies and utilizes personal protectiveequipment as required. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully withindividuals and groups and interact with people at all levels tocommunicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner in person and by phone. Completion of a four-to-six-month internship in preventative,diagnostic, and rehabilitative cardiology or equivalent clinicalexperience required. Required completion of basic arrhythmia/12 Lead EDG Interpretationcourse or equivalent. Certification in exercise physiology or cardiac stress testing ispreferred. Basic knowledge of clinical exercise physiology, graded exercisetesting procedures, preventative and rehabilitative cardiology(including nutrition, risk factor and behavior modification strategies), standard and exercise electrocardiography, and emergency/safety procedures. Fundamental PC experience required. One year work experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving publiccontact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latexmaterials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisteddevice and must be able to perform the functions of the job asoutlined in the . Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisteddevice(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. Mayrequire frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling orcrouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentiallyinfectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, workindependently, regular and predictable attendance and ability tostay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching,grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of thesemovements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level:Medium.Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% orthe workday) 10 lbs
