As a patient progresses through physical therapy, the Physical Therapist Assistant will provide treatments and follow a Physical Therapist’s established plans.
You will maintain productivity standards and advocate, communicate and educate patients of all ages. In this role, you may help with supervising students, rehab aides and volunteers.
Therapy may be provided in a variety of settings and travel may be required.
Administers various physical therapy programs under guidelines established by a Licensed Physical Therapist to facilitate rehabilitation of physically disabled patients, to maximize function and independence. Directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce and enhance performance; facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for adaptations and productivity.
All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise
- Provides physical therapy treatments, following established plans, under supervision of a physical therapist, taking into account age and educational level, while accurately assessing patient's response to treatment, as measured by clinical competencies. Can assist therapist in selective measurements, without interpretation, or evaluation.
- Prepares and maintains accurate patient care records according to departmental protocols and demonstrates basic competency for completing accurate billing and electronic documentation under therapist supervision.
- Maintains clean and safe work environment to comply with hospital and department safety standards.
- Demonstrates professionalism in clinical practice. Understands and abides by ProMedica's mission and values in all interactions with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to advocate, communicate and educate patients of all age groups served including those with physical, emotional, language and cognitive impairments, taking into account age and educational level, as measured by competencies.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill to utilize equipment safely and appropriately for patient care activities.
- Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs and safety standards.
- Manages and maintains productivity standards as established by the department.
- May assist in the supervision of students, rehabilitation aides and volunteers.
- Provides physical therapy in a variety of settings and may be required to travel between ProMedica Total Rehab locations.
- Performs other duties as directed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Associate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution
License : Current State license to practice as a physical therapy assistant
Certification : CPR
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Outpatient setting with Orthopedic, Sports medicine and/or Neurological Rehab Focus
Schedule details:
Outpatient primarily with inpatient weekend requirement
Weekly schedule: M-F with some flexibility in schedule
Weekend schedule: Minimal inpatient coverage
Holiday rotation: Minimal Holiday coverage
