Assistant
Patient Safety Assistant (PSA)
The Patient Safety Assistant (PSA) plays a vital role in supporting the well-being and safety of patients within the Henry Ford Health System. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the PSA is responsible for ensuring a safe environment and providing one-on-one observation and support to patients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring patient activity and behavior, promptly reporting changes to the RN in accordance with established protocols.
- Assisting patients with daily activities, including feeding, bathing, toileting, and ambulating.
- Offering companionship and engaging patients in enjoyable activities such as reading, card games, or conversation.
- Ensuring the patient's comfort and dignity while maintaining a safe environment.
- Adhering to the philosophy, mission, and values of Henry Ford Health System in all interactions and tasks.
- Operating monitoring equipment (if assigned to monitor role) and alerting nursing staff of any notable changes or concerns.

Education/Experience required:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Certification/Licensures required:
- Successful completion of BLS Heartsaver during orientation.
