Commercial strategy associate

The Commercial Strategy Associate acts as the business development partner to the Managing Director of TRUMPF Laser Technology, supporting and driving key strategic and sales initiatives across the business. This role combines analytical thinking, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration to turn ideas into results. The person in this role will have direct exposure to senior leadership, work in shaping business strategy, operate in a cross-functional environment, and have high level of ownership and autonomy. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can identify market and sales opportunities, manage multiple projects, build business cases, bridge business and technology, and deliver high-quality insights and recommendations that support growth.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyze market trends, customer insights, and operational data to identify growth opportunities and develop data-driven sales and marketing initiatives.
- Collaborate with strategic marketing and sales teams to identify, assess, and prioritize new business opportunities.
- Develop business cases and actionable recommendations to support decision-making on new initiatives, partnerships, and technology adoption.
- Manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, using project management tools to set timelines, track progress, and ensure deliverables are achieved.
- Prepare high-quality presentations and reports for management meetings, executives, and key stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into actionable plans that bridge technical and commercial teams, ensuring smooth communication and alignment.
- Lead cross-functional working sessions to solve problems, align stakeholders, and drive project execution.
- Support management in organizational development and cross-functional strategic initiatives.
- Act as a trusted extension of the Managing Director and work closely with the Director of Sales Operations, demonstrating sound judgment, discretion, and a high degree of independence.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as defined by management in support of business objectives.
Travel
- Less than 20% travel
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or similar advanced degree a plus).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in strategy, sales, consulting, or sales-related project management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (or equivalent).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to synthesize complex ideas for executive audiences.
- Comfortable working with technology teams and understanding technical concepts at a business level.
- Self-starter with strong ownership, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize effectively
