Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Spring Lake, MI

Salary Range: $64,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor EHS programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA).
• Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective and preventive measures.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees on topics such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and emergency procedures.
• Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal.
• Maintain accurate EHS records, prepare regulatory reports, and manage documentation systems.
• Participate in the development and testing of emergency preparedness and response plans.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• 3-5 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
• Proven experience developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs and procedures.
• Ability to conduct EHS audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments.

Bonus Qualifications

• Professional EHS certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM)
• Experience with Lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies
• Proficiency with EHS management software platforms (e.g., Intelex, Cority)
• Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems
• First Responder, EMT, or advanced First Aid/CPR certification
