Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Full-Stack Java Developer to support the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) Project Development and Maintenance programs. This role requires strong expertise in Java and modern front-end frameworks, with the ability to work collaboratively in an agile development team. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, an excellent communicator, and comfortable working across both backend and UI/UX-driven development.

• Collaborate with project managers, application owners, and agile team members to design, develop, test, and deploy applications
• Develop and maintain full-stack Java applications with an emphasis on scalable and responsive design
• Work closely with the UI/UX team to deliver intuitive and compliant user interfaces
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Perform system analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging for complex applications
• Ensure applications meet accessibility standards (ADA, WCAG 2.0, Section 508 compliance)
• Create technical documentation, support deployment, and provide production support as needed

Required Qualifications

• 7 years of experience programming complex systems with Java and IDE tools such as Eclipse or JBoss Developer Studio
• 5 years of experience developing application user interfaces with JavaScript frameworks and CSS
• 4 years of experience programming with Java 8
• 5 years of experience with Spring framework , including Spring Boot and Spring Data
• 5 years of experience with JPA/Hibernate framework
• 5 years of experience in Agile development environments
• 5 years of experience with Bootstrap, HTML5, CSS, and Data Tables
• 4 years of experience with jQuery and jQuery UI
• 4 years of experience working with Oracle 12C or Oracle 19C

Desired Qualifications

• 4 years of experience with React.js
• 4 years of experience programming in JBoss Enterprise environments
• 4 years of experience with SQL and/or PL/SQL
• 4 years of experience with Log4j, JUnit, and Tiles
• 4 years of experience with reporting tools such as Jasper Reports, Crystal Reports, or Business Objects
• 4 years of experience with accessibility and UX standards, including ADA, WCAG 2.0, and Section 508 compliance
