Job Description
The position of Customer Credit Representative is critical to assist in making prudent credit decisions while providing accurate, courteous and timely customer service. It is also critical to help minimize credit risk and maximize the company’s accounts receivable collections, as well as provide administrative support to the Finance team.
Here’s what you can expect in the way of specific job responsibilities as well as time allocation estimates:
Collection (30%)
- Initiate collection on past due accounts action via phone, fax, e-mail and mail.
- Negotiate payment, credit terms and arrangements.
Credit Analysis (25%)
- Establish and enforce credit limits and approve orders for new and existing customers based upon company policies. Help develop and improve IT processes and write documentation
- Obtain and analyze credit and financial information on new and existing customers.
- Incorporate outside sources such as Dun & Bradstreet and trade groups as credit resources.
Customer Service (20%)
- Provide quality customer service and assistance in handling customer questions and issues.
- Interact as necessary with personnel within the company to resolve and negotiate customer disputes.
Administration (15%)
- Assist in updating and maintaining credit and accounting department records.
- Work with shipping companies regarding freight issues, proof of deliveries and related items.
- Assist in processing accounting reports, credit reports and customer statements.
Financial Analysis (10%)
- Effectively manage and document customer accounts.
- Assist customers with accounting related issues.
To be successful in this role, you need to have the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities:
- A high school diploma or GED is required; some college courses OR continued learning preferred
- At least 3 years credit/accounts receivable experience or education equivalent
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as basic math, discounts, percentages and proportions
- Ability to read and interpret standard financial and business documents
- Sincere, positive, and service minded attitude
- Ability to research issues and find solutions
- Proficient in knowledge of PC; including Microsoft Office
- Highly organized and detail oriented professional
- Capable of working independently, as well as within a team environment; ability to be a team player and is passionate about helping everyone on the team to be at their best
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Respect for confidentiality practices
