Senior Real Estate Collector

The Consumers Credit Union team is looking to hire a passionate Senior Real Estate Collector to join our team. As a Senior Real Estate Collector, you will be responsible for proactively monitoring a real estate loan portfolio to identify risks, determine the true cause of delinquency, and ensure accurate, timely documentation in accordance with GSE requirements. This role guides borrowers toward the most appropriate loss mitigation solutions or exit strategies while maintaining strong compliance and service standards. They serve as a subject-matter expert in delinquency management, escalation, and resolution.

What you will do:

  • Meet assigned goals as determined by the Collection Manager.
  • Conduct timely, professional communication with delinquent borrowers to understand circumstances and guide account recovery.
  • Counsel delinquent member regarding their debts.
  • Monitor and execute all necessary duties regarding the foreclosure process.
  • Perform all Loss Mitigation processing for real estate loans.
  • Work past due non-real estate loans up to repossession.
  • Record detailed, accurate notes on each delinquent account contacted, ensuring all actions and borrower statements are fully captured.
  • Monitor and maintain vendor relationships (i.e. Attorneys, Realtors, Inspection/Title/Preservation Agency).
  • Monitor, report, and execute all property inspections / preservation in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Monitor all insurance policies for all non-performing loans and when necessary, force place insurance policies.
  • Prepare all the information regarding the real estate portfolio for month-end reporting.
  • Comply with all servicing guidelines for delinquent mortgages.
  • Make on-site field calls as needed.
  • Work evenings and weekends as scheduled.
  • Assist in any area as directed by the Collection Manager.

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Knowledge of all aspects of collections, including a good understanding of the Fair Debt Collection, Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and legal aspects of collections.
  • Understand secondary market mortgage guidelines.
  • analytical judgment and creative problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong listening and empathy skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of current technology; able to easily navigate multiple software environments.
  • Understanding of credit union history, philosophy, culture, values, and vision.
  • Understanding of Consumers rules, regulations and operating policies and procedures.
  • Work under little supervision.
  • Real estate collection experience preferred.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
