Plastics Processing Technician — Injection Molding

Status: Full-time, Hourly (40 hrs/week; additional hours as needed to support company and individual goals)

You lock down the area, verify the molding window, trace the root cause to a material temperature variance, correct the parameters, document the change, and submit an engineering change request. Scrap is contained, cycle time is protected, and the team learns from the update to the master set-up. That’s the level of ownership you’ll bring every day.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operate injection molding machines, auxiliary systems, and end-of-arm tooling in strict compliance with lockout/tagout and PPE policies.
• Execute mold and EOAT changeovers; perform system startups/shutdowns; complete first- and last-piece inspections to confirm process stability.
• Safely operate industrial trucks, overhead/mobile cranes, aerial platforms, and bolster carts.
• Develop, maintain, and improve job-specific instructions, process documentation, and master set-ups using 5S and Lean methods.
• Lead continuous improvement to reduce scrap, improve cycle time, and boost efficiency.
• Identify symptoms of process issues producing out-of-spec parts; determine root cause; implement corrective actions and verify results.
• Document all process adjustments; report concerns; and issue engineering change requests and corrective actions to the Supervisor and Process Engineer.
• Standardize and sustain molding processes; support current standards across shifts.
• Direct and support Operators to minimize setup time and maximize throughput; provide clear shift handoffs.
• Train new team members using the New Operator Training Log.
• Complete all required paperwork: master set-up sheets, mold tag systems, product orders, maintenance forms, and related records.
• Perform material handling as needed and step into Operator tasks when required.
• Bring a positive attitude and adhere to all safety requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of injection molding experience.
• Powered Industrial Truck License.
• Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and team-building skills; proven leadership experience.
• Hands-on problem-solving skills.

Preferred

• Computer skills: AS/400 and Microsoft Office.
• 3–5 years of injection molding processing experience.
• FANUC robotics exposure.
• Kaizen/Lean Manufacturing experience.
