Responsibilities

• Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing to remove plaque and tartar buildupn and perio charting
• Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques
• Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient records in EMR systems, ensuring HIPAA compliance
• Review dental charts and medical records for comprehensive patient care planning
• Maintain accurate clinical notes
• Ensure aseptic techniques are followed to prevent cross-contamination
• Provide chairside assisting during various dental procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings
• Monitor and document patient responses throughout treatment, ensuring comfort and safety
• Adhere to all infection control standards, including sterilization procedures and OSHA regulations

Requirements

• Valid Dental Hygienist license with current state licensure
• Proven experience in dental office or clinic settings, including pediatric dentistry
• Proficiency with dental software such as OpenDental is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental coding, and documentation review
• Familiarity with EMR systems and medical imaging techniques
• Ability to perform patient care with compassion, professionalism, and excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols
• Experience with medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and aseptic technique is required
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
