The Senior Director, Business Analytics will serve as a senior leader within the Detroit Pistons Business Strategy & Analytics team, driving advanced analysis, predictive modeling, and pricing strategy to optimize revenue, enhance fan experience, and support strategic decision-making across the organization.

This role will lead a high-impact team responsible for building robust forecasting models, developing innovative pricing strategies, and generating actionable insights across ticketing, premium, partnerships, and marketing. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in applied analytics, a strategic mindset, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable business strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Strategy & Pricing Optimization

  • Lead the development and refinement of dynamic pricing strategies across ticketing, premium seating, and experiences.
  • Collaborate with ticketing, premium, and sales leaders to create pricing models that maximize revenue while enhancing fan accessibility and satisfaction.
  • Build predictive models to forecast sales, demand elasticity, and ROI of pricing and promotional strategies.

Advanced Analytics & Predictive Modeling

  • Build and operationalize advanced predictive models (e.g., churn, demand, lifetime value, segmentation) to inform marketing, sales, and retention strategies.
  • Identify key business questions and provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis and modeling.
  • Partner with marketing teams to enhance targeting, personalization, and fan engagement strategies using data science tools.

Business Performance Reporting & Strategic Insights

  • Develop dashboards, reports, and tools that empower business units with real-time visibility into KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Present analytical findings to senior leadership in a compelling, visual, and actionable format.
  • Translate complex data into strategic insights that drive revenue, fan satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence

  • Collaborate closely with Ticketing, Marketing, Partnerships and Finance teams to integrate analytics into business planning and execution.
  • Provide thought leadership and act as an internal consultant to help departments utilize data more effectively.
  • Work with the VP of Business Strategy & Analytics to align analytics priorities with enterprise goals.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team fostering a culture of innovation, curiosity, and continuous learning.
  • Oversee project management, analytics roadmaps, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of analytical solutions.
  • Promote collaboration and professional development across the Business Strategy & Analytics function.

Tools, Systems, & Data Infrastructure

  • Ensure effective use of BI and analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Python/R, Snowflake) for reporting and modeling.
  • Partner with IT and data engineering to maintain scalable, integrated, and secure data infrastructure.
  • Recommend and evaluate new technologies, tools, and data sources that can enhance analytical capabilities

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, pricing, or business intelligence, preferably in sports, entertainment, or consumer-facing industries.
  • 5+ years of experience leading analytics teams and delivering high-impact, executive-facing insights.
  • Proven experience in pricing strategy, forecasting, and predictive modeling using tools such as Python, R, or SAS.
  • Deep understanding of data visualization, business intelligence platforms, and data storytelling techniques.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen, communication skills, and a passion for using data to solve business problems.
  • Experience working cross-functionally and influencing at all levels of a matrixed organization.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics, or related field.
