Job Summary

The Accounting and Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll and performing various accounting duties.

Essential Functions

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees
  • Maintain automated time and attendance and payroll records
  • Review and verify data accuracy and source documents to ensure timely and accurate timesheet submissions, maintain source documentation
  • Monitor and resolve employee payroll questions in a confidential manner
  • Assist with federal and state filing requirements including W-2s and 1099s
  • Identify and suggest process improvement changes to enhance the overall payroll process
  • Process Accounts Payable
  • Process Accounts Receivable and cash receipts and monitor aging
  • Assist with other projects and duties as assigned in the normal course of business
  • Assist with the external financial audit

Qualifications

  • Must have 2+ years of payroll processing experience and general bookkeeping experience
  • Preference to in-house payroll experience
  • Knowledge of payroll related regulatory standards
  • Basic accounting knowledge of balance sheet, profit loss, chart of accounts
  • Excellent problem resolution with strong attention to detail
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, reach and lift to 20 pounds, walking or standing to a significant degree
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in serving the needs of others and a positive attitude toward the community, co-workers, and individuals we serve
