GFL Production Manager-1st Shift

Job Overview:

The GFL Production Manager is responsible for planning, supervising, and controlling production processes to ensure products are delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining quality standards. This is a hands on leadership role responsible for meeting daily production targets while building and developing a high performing production team.

Position Responsibilities

• Oversee and implement improvements to the production process.
• Adjust production plans based on material availability, equipment issues, or urgent orders
• Lead coordinate with the Maintenance/Facilities Manager on the preventative and emergency maintenance required for operational equipment.
• Estimating costs and preparing budgets.
• Maintain accurate shift production records (output, downtime, scrap, delays).
• Enter data into daily KPI dashboards and escalate major concerns to senior management.
• Track labor hours and shift-specific issues.
• Lead the establishment and enforcement of safety policies and procedures
• Lead continuous improvement projects relating to productivity, quality, and safety.
• Develop new policies and procedures to address identified needs and communicate with all involved employees and plant leadership.
• Continuously follow-up to ensure process control through process monitoring and communications.
• Resolve production problems such as ware defects, glass conditioning and equipment problems to maintain maxim operating and quality efficiencies and standard.
• Estimate costs and follow budgets accordingly.
• Works closely with team members in gathering information and tracking progress against approved milestones.
• Anticipates bottlenecks, clarifies project priorities, identifies risks, and escalates issues that cannot be internally resolved.
• Provides regular status reports and capacity plan updates with the team.
• Identifies the best tools and technologies to help manage workflow and optimizes their implementation and deployment.
• Leads all production efforts, mobilizes resources to reduce unscheduled downtime, establishes and adheres to all applicable procedures and policies to ensure inventory controls and accuracy are maintained.
• Ensures that staff training, processes, equipment, and tool requirements are fulfilled to comply with health and safety regulations.
• Leads improvement efforts to maximize efficiency, performance, and reduce costs without compromising quality or safety.
• Ensure compliance with all OHSA and environmental regulatory and corporate standards and develop strategies to maintain a safe working environment.
• Drives cross-training to optimize resource utilization, scheduling, and adherence to timelines.
• Motivating, supporting, and providing guidance to production staff.
• Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems and issues impacting production.
• Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.
• Setting productivity goals for each manufacturing team member.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and/or related operations experience.
• 7+ years' experience in a leadership or management role.
• 4+ year's of previous experience creating and developing high performing operations teams within a production environment.

Work Environment

• 100% Plant floor (PPE required)
• Requires working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and varying temperatures and noise levels.
• Constant communication with employees, peers and management
• Overtime as required
• Frequent requirement of handling heavy equipment (operation)
• Frequent need to give concentrated attention to surroundings
