School-Based Physical Therapist – Part-Time

We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative School-Based Physical Therapist to join our team in providing services to students in a supportive educational environment. This part-time position will manage a caseload of approximately 13 students ranging from preschool through 12th grade.

Position Summary

The School-Based Physical Therapist provides evaluation, consultation, and direct physical therapy services to students who qualify for special education services under IDEA. The Physical Therapist works collaboratively with educational staff, related service providers, and families to support student access, mobility, participation, and success within the school setting.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy evaluations and develop treatment recommendations for students in preschool through 12th grade.
• Deliver direct and consultative physical therapy services as outlined in student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of measurable goals and accommodations.
• Collaborate with teachers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, school psychologists, nursing staff, administrators, and parents to support student needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, service logs, Medicaid documentation (if applicable), and evaluation reports.
• Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans and goals as appropriate.
• Assist with positioning, mobility equipment recommendations, adaptive equipment, and accessibility within the school environment.
• Support student participation and safety in classroom, playground, and school-based activities.
• Communicate effectively with families and school personnel regarding student progress and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations and timelines.

Qualifications

• Current Physical Therapist license in the State of Michigan.
• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• Previous pediatric or school-based experience preferred.
• Knowledge of IDEA regulations, IEP development, and school-based therapy practices preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

• Part-time position- 2-3 Days per week, flexible
