Our work style is collaborative, open, and welcoming of new ideas. Ready to make a change and join a dynamic team of dedicated and experienced professionals? JOB SUMMARY:
Oxford Design Build is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to be a senior field leader responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing construction work in the field to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. This role is accountable for day-to-day site leadership, trade coordination, and proactive execution. This position partners closely with Project Managers but owns field execution, trade readiness, short-interval planning, and on-site decision-making. JOB DUTIES:
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, logistics plans, and scopes prior to work starting.
- Participate in constructability reviews and identify field risks, constraints, and sequencing issues.
- Verify site readiness prior to mobilization, including access, utilities, safety controls, and temporary conditions.
- Confirm subcontractor scopes align with drawings, approved submittals, and project expectations.
- Support development of the baseline project schedule with a focus on field execution feasibility.
- Develop, maintain, and actively manage look-ahead schedules (2–6 week horizon).
- Identify upcoming constraints (materials, manpower, inspections, approvals, access, owner impacts).
- Coordinate subcontractors to ensure trade readiness prior to mobilization.
- Communicate upcoming work and constraints clearly to Project Managers and trade partners.
- Participate in project meetings, providing field-driven schedule and progress updates.
- Lead and coordinate daily on-site activities of subcontractors and vendors.
- Enforce site safety plans and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-managed job sites.
- Coordinate logistics including deliveries, access, shutdowns, temporary protection, signage, and dust control.
- Work collaboratively with Property Management to minimize disruption to occupants and neighboring tenants.
- Resolve field issues proactively and escalate risks early when needed.
- Inspect work for quality, completeness, and compliance with approved documents.
- Verify work is installed per drawings, specifications, and approved submittals.
- Track daily progress against the schedule and adjust sequencing as required.
- Support punch list creation, corrective work, and final inspections.
- Assist with project closeout activities including turnover readiness and documentation.
- Owns jobsite safety performance and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
- Conducts safety walks, enforces PPE requirements, and leads by example.
- Ensures work meets Oxford quality standards before advancing to the next phase.
While this role has no direct supervisory responsibilities, the Superintendent is considered a senior field leader and may be asked to mentor and support the development of current and future field staff. This includes coaching on planning, trade coordination, safety leadership, and execution standards. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred), or equivalent experience.
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in construction field operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing schedules, look-ahead planning, and trade coordination.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Procore, PlanGrid, Smartsheets, or similar platforms preferred.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, active construction environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Takes ownership of field outcomes, not just tasks.
- Plans ahead and communicates early.
- Leads with professionalism, accountability, and calm under pressure.
- Represents Oxford Construction positively with owners, tenants, and trade partners.
