Cashier - Gift Shop St. John Hospital - 20hrs - Varied Shift

  • Schedule: 20 hours per week; variable days & hours; Monday-Friday: 11:00am – 7:30pm & Saturday-Sunday: 11:30am – 4:30pm

  • Travel required if needed to other campuses which include the Henry Ford Warren Hospital and the Henry Ford Madison Heights Hospital (rare occasion).
  • RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Receives payment by cash, check, credit card and debit card and issues receipts, change, credits or refunds to customers.
    • Operates cash registers and ensures accurate and efficient accounts of all transactions.
    • Balances cash and credit card receipts and counts cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure correct balance.
    • In retail setting, assists with the receiving, unpacking, stocking, displaying, pricing, and sales of merchandise.
    • Maintains clean and organized area.
    • Customer service mindset with friendly personality.
    • Assists with selecting gift items for customers, taking phone orders and making in hospital deliveries.
    • Assists with training volunteers as needed.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. - Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Engaging personality.
    • Three years previous retail experience preferred.
    • Basic computer skills to operate the register.
    • Basic math skills for sales transactions.
    • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
    • Requires critical thinking skills-decisive judgement-handle a stressful environment and ability to work with minimal or no supervision
