Physician - Addiction Psychiatrist (Saginaw)
Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensure may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. VA physicians previously employed who met qualification standards at initial appointment are deemed to meet the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship
- Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy
- Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved medical school
- Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in the U.S. or its territories
- Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency program leading to eligibility for board certification, approved by the VA or equivalent experience

- Addiction Psychiatry
- Medication Assisted Treatment
- English Language Proficiency
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform all activities without restriction, including standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, and climbing stairs
Duties
- Provide psychiatric consultation and treatment for inpatients and outpatients
- Evaluate, interpret, diagnose, and manage psychiatric illnesses
- Order diagnostic tests and procedures
- Participate in VA's total rewards program, including incentives and benefits
