Industrial Construction Superintendent
We are a Commercial/Industrial/Multifamily general contractor seeking a Jobsite Superintendent. They
will be singularly responsible for onsite duties, tasks, schedules and safety on each job that they are
assigned. They have the responsibility to oversee every on-site aspect of the delivery of their project,
from the beginning to the final project delivery. They will utilize all company resources necessary to
properly plan, organize, implement and control the outcome of events that occur on their projects.
Responsibilities To provide leadership and promote positive morale on their projects
To maintain effective working relationships with all subcontractors & JBD team members
To have a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of their project and contractual
documents on the project that they are assigned.
To have a working knowledge of the daily tasks related to being a site Superintendent; site access management, site safety, project punch list, daily reports and pictures of projects, etc.
Working with the architects, engineers, project engineers, and project managers on their project, being the main point of contact in managing the production of on-site information.
To thoroughly review, analyze and evaluate all subcontractor scopes of work, without compromising the workflow or schedule of the project.
To schedule materials and subcontracts in advance of their scheduled date.
To develop and refine the overall Project Schedule and to review on a weekly basis. Provide superintendent’s 3-week look-ahead schedule to ensure that the project is being scheduled in accordance with the overall project schedule.
To communicate with the Project Manager to monitor the job progress and any issues that may impact the financial or schedule performance.
To address conflict resolution by bringing forth a minimum of one solution to any issue.
To maintain a presence on site while overseeing laborers and subcontractors.
To resolve all issues related to the fieldwork whenever appropriate to the job circumstances with the assistance of the project manager or project engineer
To verify that every subcontractor has completed their on-site contractual obligations prior to their leaving the project – includes managing punch-list & closeout process with project engineer
To maintain good relations and communications with all parties involved in the Project, including the public.
To ensure that all work rules related to our safety program and cleanliness standards are strictly enforced.
To employ personal skills and creative problem solving to manage and minimize all risks to the project and company.
Qualifications
Can solve practical problems and deal effectively with a variety of variables in situations where
only limited information may exist.
Advanced knowledge of the entire construction process and how every project should be
properly managed.
Ability to see the “big picture” and thoroughly competent in managing conflict resolution.
A technical background in site work, foundations, structural designs, mechanical and electrical
systems and the overall integrity of the building envelope.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Organizational skills with great attention to all details.
Knowledge of OSHA requirements pertinent to the construction industry.
Strong working knowledge and ability to utilize all software programs typically used in the
performance of their duties (i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Projects, etc.)
