Salary Range: $54,000 - $86,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
• Operate and maintain a variety of manual and CNC machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
• Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Perform precision measurements using instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tooling and production machinery.
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventative care on tooling to extend lifespan and optimize performance.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool construction and repair.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
• Proficient in operating a variety of manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
• Expert ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and use precision measuring instruments.
• Strong knowledge of various tool steels, heat treatments, and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex tooling and dies.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
• Advanced welding experience (e.g., TIG, laser welding for tool repair)
• Experience operating and programming CNC machining centers
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels
• Proficiency with CMM or other advanced metrology equipment
