Transportation Manager - 3PL ( {{city}})
Position Summary: The Corporate Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, direction, and coordination of all transportation operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective movement of all material and goods related to Company OE and aftermarket business. This position will work directly with MP&L Managers at each location to ensure logistics strategy is being executed in most efficient way.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop, implement, and manage ongoing short and long term logistics strategy for the company.
- Manage all aspects of spend and reporting for all logistics activities for plants and aftermarket
- Plan, direct, and manage activities of 3rd party logistics partner(s)
- Competitively bid company requirements within the market.
- Negotiate best rates among transportation and logistics costs
- Work with manufacturing, warehouse operations, and suppliers to oversee coordination of best cost-effective routes
- Develop and measure key performance metrics related to supply chain management
- Develop and execute savings initiatives, involving 3PL and plant MP&L personnel
- Submit annual freight estimate for finance budgeting and monthly reporting
- Submit monthly freight accrual and supervise freight payment activities
- Ensure transportation activities are compliant with State and Federal regulations in respective areas
- Provide critical input in new production quotes through management of an ongoing component and inter-company freight cost calculator
- Track SOP / EOP / Part Transfers to identify and proactively manage significant changes to transportation routes
- Supervise trade advisor services and broker actions to ensure company is compliant with US import and Export regulations
- Resolve claim issues as necessary
- Approve relevant invoices as they occur
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
- 10+ years of experience in Logistics industry
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Highly experienced in, and strong understanding of, government regulations related to supply chain
- Experience with strategic planning and implementation
- Experience with the coordination of personnel and resources
- Up to 75% travel to company facilities on regular basis
