Special Education LRE Para
Position: Special Education Classroom Paraprofessional
Location: Hastings High School
Start Date: 2026-27 School Year

Position Summary:
The Hastings Area School System is seeking a caring and dedicated Special Education
Paraprofessional to assist in providing support and services to students with disabilities within
the Level III classroom. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a certified
special education teacher to help implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and
promote student success in both academic and social-emotional areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to students as outlined in their IEPs.
- Assist students with classroom activities, assignments, and organization.
- Support students in developing appropriate social interactions and behavior.
- Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and
playgrounds.
- Assist with accommodations, modifications, and adaptive equipment as needed.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, service providers, and administrators.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or building administrator.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children, preferably students with special needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping all students succeed.
