Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $62,000 - $95,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure regulatory adherence.
• Investigate all EHS incidents, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and deliver EHS training sessions for employees on various safety topics and procedures.
• Maintain accurate EHS records, prepare regulatory reports, and manage environmental permits.
• Advise management on EHS best practices and regulatory changes to promote a safe and healthy working environment.
• Lead or participate in emergency response planning and drills.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• 3-5 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, including risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Strong communication and training delivery skills for all levels of an organization.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with EHS management software (e.g., Gensuite, Intelex, Sphera)
• OSHA Outreach Trainer certification (General Industry or Construction)
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies
• Experience leading or participating in emergency response teams (e.g., HAZMAT, First Aid)
• ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 internal auditor certification
