Job Title : Director of Technology

Location : Catholic Central High School – 27225 Wixom Road, Novi, Michigan 48374 Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Classification : Full Time, Exempt

Schedule :

• School Day Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
• Non-School Day Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
• Additional nights/weekends as needed.

Detroit Catholic Central High School

Detroit Catholic Central High School is an all-boys Catholic college preparatory high school dedicated to providing a rigorous education through the Basilian tradition of Goodness, Discipline & Knowledge. Located in Novi, Michigan, Catholic Central is the largest Catholic school in Michigan.

Position Summary

The Director of Technology provides leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on management of Catholic Central High School’s technology systems. This role oversees infrastructure, system administration, cybersecurity, instructional technology, and end-user support while ensuring alignment with the school’s mission. The Director also manages the technology team, department budget, and vendor relationships while driving innovation and maintaining system security.

Responsibilities

System & Network Administration

• Administer school-wide network, servers, and infrastructure, including:
  • Fortinet firewalls, Cisco 9500/9300 core switches, Cisco switch stacks, Meraki wireless systems
  • Cisco Call Manager, Unity Voice Messaging, and desk phones
  • HP servers, VMware virtual hosts, Microsoft Active Directory, and file management o Application servers, network printers, cabling, UPS backup, and DNS
• Configure and maintain phone systems, copiers, A/V systems, and security hardware. • Monitor systems for unusual activity and intrusion attempts.
• Maintain data backup, archiving, and disaster recovery solutions.

User & Application Management

• Manage Active Directory accounts, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, PaperCut, and eFax systems.
• Provide end-user support for faculty, staff, and students.
• Oversee device distribution, troubleshooting, and the loaner program.
• Manage Freshdesk ticketing system.

Cybersecurity

• Administer TrendMicro cybersecurity, Cisco Umbrella web filtering, and system monitoring.
• Ensure the integrity and security of databases, applications, and infrastructure.
• Conduct audits and implement disaster recovery plans when needed.

Instructional & Educational Technology

• Lead the student onboarding process annually.
• Work with academic chairs on curriculum technology integration, classroom management, and professional development.

Management & Leadership

• Supervise IT staff and coordinate with administration and department heads.
• Develop IT policies, best practices, and training programs.
• Oversee IT department budgeting, vendor management, licensing, and project lifecycles.
• Stay current with industry trends and identify opportunities for innovation.
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field required; professional certifications (e.g., MCSE) preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive IT experience, including leadership roles.
• Strong technical expertise in networking, servers, cybersecurity, cloud applications, and end user support.
• Proficiency in Blackbaud, Naviance, Active Directory, Google Workspace, and educational technologies.
• Proven leadership, project management, and vendor relationship skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
• Completed or willing to complete Archdiocese of Detroit’s Protecting God’s Children course.
• Must submit to drug testing, fingerprinting, and criminal background check.
