Admissions Recruiter (SE Michigan) - Admissions and Recruitment
This position will represent GVSU in Southeast Michigan to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. This position will manage assigned recruitment territory through prospect relationship management, leveraging partnerships, relationships, and admissions and enrollment data to maintain consistent recruitment activity, to increase prospective student interaction, and influence admission yield.
Salary & Benefits: $51,000 - $55,000, commensurate with experience- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, life insurance, generous employer retirement contributions, wellness resources, and tuition waiver effective on date of hire.
- Represent GVSU both on and off-campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.
- Advise prospective applicants on the admissions process, academic programs, support resources, and opportunities at the university through in-person and virtual appointments, small group presentations, phone calls, and emails.
- Manage assigned Southeast Michigan territory through prospect relationship management, leveraging partnerships, relationships, and admissions and enrollment data to maintain consistent recruitment activity, to increase prospective student interaction, and influence admission yield.
- Initiate and maintain relationships with students, families, staff at high schools, and community organizations with a special focus in the Southeast Michigan territory and diverse populations.
- Review materials submitted by applicants for the purpose of making admission decisions.
- Develop and implement recruitment and yield projects as assigned.
- Participate and assist with special events and activities at the Detroit Center, Grand Rapids, and Allendale campuses when needed.
- Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service, recruitment, education, sales, or related field.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently, as part of a team, and a strong commitment to working with diverse populations.
- Strong cross-cultural skills.
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to GVSU’s vision of inclusion and equity.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote locations and to load and transport admissions materials, displays and other equipment.
- Ability to work evening and weekend hours required throughout the year, especially during the fall travel season.
- Higher education experience.
- Experience with customer relationship management systems (CRM).
- College/university admissions experience or experience working with middle school or high school audiences.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Monday through Friday, with evening and weekend work required throughout the year.
- Admissions recruitment occurs primarily by in-person appointments, but also by small group presentations, zoom appointments, phone calls and emails.
- Extensive travel is required.
