With over 80 years of combined experience, Lighthouse serves as a beacon of hope to our neighbors who need it most by offering assistance with emergency basic needs alongside housing programs and supportive services designed to support long-term economic stability. Lighthouse owns and operates Spero Housing Group, a subsidiary non-profit dedicated specifically to developing and operating high quality affordable and supportive housing for persons of low and moderate income, as well as HandUp, a community and crowdfunding platform serving 100+ homeless service agencies and their clients across the United States.

Position Summary

Lighthouse is seeking a highly-motivated, innovative, and results-driven social worker to manage the housing case management team. Housing case management and services are essential for providing basic needs, rapid re-housing and prevention services for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Oakland County. Our emergency housing programs serve over 100 households annually across ESG, HUD, CDBG, FEMA and other foundation funding sources. This role will be responsible for program compliance, quality and consistency of services, and the management of daily operations.

Responsibilities & Duties

Staff Management Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise Housing Case Managers, AmeriCorps and interns in the implementation of housing and other supportive direct-service programs (up to 6 FTE).

  • Recruit, hire, and train new housing staff, as needed,

  • Stay up-to-date with ongoing best practices, program eligibility and implementation requirements, and agency standards. Train staff accordingly and maintain accountability.

  • Be accessible, within reason, to housing staff members in an “on call” type structure.

  • Lead program team meetings.

  • Provide ongoing feedback and direction to staff and conduct annual performance reviews

Program Management Responsibilities

  • Work with supervisor to ensure agency-wide strategic work plans are being carried out accordingly.

  • Work with supervisor to establish, track, and monitor program budgets and expenses.

  • Work with supervisor to manage and implement funding and program requirements.

  • Work with supervisor and HMIS Agency Administrator to establish, track, and monitor key program outcomes, data quality, and data compliance.

  • Compile, review, and provide time-sensitive program output and outcome data to supervisor and relevant parties.

  • Ensure cohesive services, processes, and practices across all assigned housing programs

  • Help prepare for and lead program monitoring visits and audits

  • Monitor the quality of program level data, service quality, program compliance, and the proper maintenance of client related files and records.

  • Review, approve, and audit files, processes, and practices to ensure a high level of quality and compliance.

  • Hold team accountable to high standards.

  • Maintain an updated resource database of social service organizations and referral services relevant to the needs of the target population, train and make accessible to staff.

  • Foster and coordinate inter-agency collaborative solutions and referrals to help clients connect with shelter, meet their goals, and attain long-term stability.

  • Uphold agency values to maintain a safe, client-centered, and inclusive environment for clients, staff, interns, and volunteers.

  • Participate in internal and external task-forces and committees working to assist the homeless population.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Lived or professional experience working with people experiencing homelessness or extreme levels of poverty in the US.

  • BSW from a 4-year accredited college or university or bachelor’s degree in a related field or 9 years related experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in a role directly or indirectly related to a human/social services, case management, and/or program management,

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HMIS, and Google Apps,

  • Strong organizational and communication skills,

  • Strong conflict resolution skills,

  • An appetite for innovation and creative problem-solving,

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends,

  • Reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSW from a 4-year accredited college or university or master’s degree in a related field

  • 6+ years’ experience in a role directly or indirectly related to a human/social services and/or case management

  • Experience managing emergency housing programs and services

  • Knowledge of the social services landscape in Oakland County and surrounding areas

  • Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care, Housing First, and SPDAT training

  • Proven ability to work effectively with racially and ethnically diverse clients and teams

  • Experience in managing and leading teams

  • Ability to build consensus and resolve conflict; exhibits willingness to have difficult conversations.

  • Exceptional communication ability, both written and oral.

  • Ability to listen and accept feedback constructively.

  • Possess high emotional intelligence skills.

  • Unwavering personal integrity.

  • Ability to lead in a fast paced, demanding, constantly changing environment
