Basic Function
Responsible for color matching activities to support new product development for molded-in-color polypropylene compounded resins for use in automotive and non-automotive applications. This position will translate strong knowledge of color theory, pigments, dyes and special effect colorants for polymers, plus fundamental polymer and processing knowledge to achieve a commercially viable custom color match meeting specific customer end use requirements of performance, appearance, and processing. Responsible for management of color recipes, color quality specifications, acts as the technical expert to manufacturing and supports quality and non-conformance investigations for application field issues. Collaborates cross functionally and with internal and external stakeholder supporting color innovation activities aligned with Performance Materials business strategy. #LI-LL2

Roles & Responsibilities
- Proficient in the development of color formulations, demonstrating precision in color matching to customer application requirements, achieving optimal colorant loading with minimal raw material costs.
- Proficient in operation of laboratory weighing, blending, compounding, molding equipment utilized in preparation of color samples as well as operation of color measurement systems and interpretation of results.
- Accurately document color or property performance data and observations, contributing to and maintaining color development projects, records, samples and retains.
- Responsible to create quality specification control plans, advise preferred production methods, support new product scale up activities at internal or subcontracted manufacturing sites, and act as a technical consultant to manufacturing sites for product, process, or quality resolution and other related items.
- Exhibit customer focused responsiveness and effectively communicate to internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating proficient project management with ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Participation and support of key customer/partner/vendor relationships required to support business strategy.
- Collaborates globally and cross functionally in color innovation activities, new business development and best practice knowledge sharing.
- Provides color technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders in color appearance, processing, and performance for new or existing products and applications.
- Works cross functionally with manufacturing, procurement, product safety and other teams to ensure regulatory, product safety, quality, cost, and efficiency is optimized via recipe management.
- Deliver GoalZero HSE performance through management systems and workplace culture.
Min. Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum requirement is an Associate degree in Color Science, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Related Engineering or Business degree.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in color matching of thermoplastic Polyolefin compounds
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in color matching to Automotive OEM requirements.
Skills
- Strong leadership and people/organizational acumen demonstrated through previous experience within product development or manufacturing.
- Intimate knowledge of the properties, characteristics and processing behavior of pigments, and formulation knowledge with polymers, additives, functional modifiers, fillers, flame retardants, plasticizers or other.
- Intimate knowledge of polymer processing and testing methods related to color, and the ability to operate such equipment.
- Demonstrated ability and understanding of color matching theory and formulation development required in automotive, appliance, agriculture and building and construction application expectations for mold in color aesthetic applications
- Excellent verbal and written skills and ability to communicate with all levels of management – both internally and externally.
- Knowledge of quality systems for design and development, such as TS 16949, Design and Development requirements.
- Sound computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Color Matching, and information technology systems, preferred experience in project management, SAP, and PLM softwares.
