Certified Medication Aide
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for safely and accurately administering medications to residents in a nursing home setting under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. This role is vital to ensuring that residents receive the proper medications in a timely manner while maintaining high standards of care and compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Essential Functions:
Medication Administration:
- Assist in the administration of prescribed medications to residents as ordered by physicians and according to facility protocols.
- Verify resident identities and medication orders prior to administration.
- Monitor residents for any adverse reactions or side effects and promptly report any concerns to nursing staff.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
- Accurately document medication administration, including dosage, time, and any resident responses or incidents.
- Maintain medication logs and assist in the management of medication inventories, ensuring timely restocking and proper storage.
Resident Care:
- Provide compassionate care by engaging with residents, understanding their needs, and assisting with personal care when necessary.
- Collaborate closely with the nursing team to support overall resident wellness and comfort.
Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations as well as facility policies regarding medication administration.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment and properly handle hazardous materials.
- Participate in ongoing training and quality assurance initiatives to keep current with best practices.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent and
- Certification of Medication Aide program
- Additional state specific requirements as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Able to effectively communicate with clinical and non-clinical staff and individuals.
- Able to provide proof of valid driver’s license, if applicable.
- Able to provide proof of valid auto liability insurance in assignment(s) include driving own vehicle.
- Meets applicable health requirements to provide patient care as appropriate
