The Mechanic assists with Century Traffic’s fleet of vehicles ensuring safety efficiency, reliability, and accessibility of vehicles to teammates. This is a second shift role, Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. to midnight with a half hour unpaid lunch. All of this will be accomplished while working together as a team to continually move Century forward. Key Responsibilities:

• Assists in all activities related to the operation and maintenance of Century Traffic fleet including completion of preventive maintenance, vehicle registration, service parts, and evaluation of vehicle’s longevity.
• Follows, updates and may implement a fleet maintenance plan, policies and procedures while keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with government regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to travel to other locations, if needed, to perform maintenance.
• Safely work with the crew to load and unload equipment onto and off work trucks.
• Maintain a clean shop and yard area.
• Ensure trucks are clean, organized and job ready.
• Finish projects as requested by the Director of Operations.
• Complete required paperwork, time sheets, and safety documentation accurately and on time.
• Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and overtime as required by project schedules.

Qualifications:

• All roles are required to be on site at their assigned location daily to perform their role.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required; CDL preferred but not required.
• ASE certification a plus.
• At least 3 years of experience as a mechanic, with considerable experience servicing a fleet of vehicles.
• Formal training or certification in automotive technology is strongly preferred.
• Mechanical knowledge and diagnostic skills, including experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of DOT compliance.
• Familiarity with fleet management software and maintenance tracking systems i.e., GEOTAB.
• Effective communication skills with ability to work collaboratively with all team members.
• Standing up to 100% of the time, walking, lifting, squatting, twisting, crawling, kneeling and climbing as necessary throughout the day.
• Frequent use of hands for grasping the steering wheel and tools.
• Frequent use of feet for operating brake and accelerator as well as walking.
• Capability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds in the shop, due to maintenance.
• Organized.
