Job Description
The Inside Sales Representative serves as the key link between customers, suppliers, engineers, and outside sales, ensuring that customers receive the correct parts and effective solutions for their pump-related needs. This role focuses on providing responsive customer service, diagnosing issues, coordinating with internal teams, and managing the full order process from inquiry to resolution.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact between customers, suppliers, engineers, and outside sales for pump-related inquiries and orders.
- Monitor and manage the shared email inbox, promptly responding to customer inquiries and requests.
- Assist customers in diagnosing issues with pumps by actively listening, asking clarifying questions, and identifying likely causes.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including engineering and sales, to develop effective solutions to customer issues.
- Identify, order, and track the necessary parts required to repair or maintain customer pumps.
- Prepare and provide accurate quotes to customers for parts and services, ensuring all required information is captured.
- Create and send purchase orders (POs) for customer orders and ensure orders are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Follow up with customers to confirm that the provided solution and parts have resolved their issues.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers via email and phone to support troubleshooting and order-related questions.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, orders, and follow-ups using computer systems and basic data entry.
- Provide inside sales support by assisting with account management and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Work collaboratively with a small office team to support overall sales and customer service goals.
Essential Skills
- Strong soft skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot customer issues, particularly related to mechanical or pump-related problems.
- Strong listening skills to accurately understand customer concerns and identify appropriate solutions.
- Mechanical aptitude, including the ability to understand and interpret issues described by customers and translate them into correct parts orders.
- Proficiency with computers and basic navigation of Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
- Customer service experience with a focus on responsiveness, professionalism, and problem-solving.
- Experience in inside sales or inside sales support.
- Ability to perform accurate data entry and manage order-related information.
- Customer service–oriented mindset with a focus on building and maintaining positive relationships.
- Basic account management experience, including supporting ongoing customer needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience working in a similar retail or parts environment, such as automotive parts stores (e.g., experience comparable to Auto Zone or O'Reilly's).
- Experience working in a role that involves diagnosing mechanical issues and recommending parts or solutions.
- Familiarity with pump systems or industrial equipment is beneficial.
- Interest in long-term growth opportunities within an inside sales or customer support environment.
- Motivated by performance-based incentives, including discretionary annual bonuses based on effort and performance.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oak Park, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr.
