Purpose of the Job
This manufacturing organization is seeking a Material Handler to support production and shipping operations by safely moving materials and finished products throughout the facility. This role requires operating powered industrial trucks and supporting warehouse, shipping, and production teams to ensure efficient workflow and safe material handling.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT), such as forklifts, to move and load products and materials safely.
Follow all safety specifications including stacking heights, seat belt usage, speed limits, and facility signage.
Maintain awareness of surroundings while operating equipment to ensure the safety of employees, materials, and equipment.
Perform battery charging and battery changes according to safety procedures.
Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
Stack and organize products and materials in designated storage areas.
Support shipping and receiving activities as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized work area through routine housekeeping duties.
Cross-train and assist in multiple work centers as required.
Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately.
Meet daily production and operational requirements.
Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors or management to support facility operations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience in shipping and receiving operations required.
Ability to safely load and unload trucks.
Basic PC skills including keyboard and mouse usage required.
Experience using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
Ability to operate powered industrial trucks and maintain required certifications.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
One year of related experience preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Requirements
Regularly stand, walk, and use hands to handle materials and equipment.
Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Manufacturing and warehouse environment with moving mechanical parts.
Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical equipment.
Noise levels may be high; hearing protection is required and provided.
Safety glasses are required and provided.
Steel-toe safety shoes or boots are required.
