Senior Scientist Position Summary
The Lab Technician is responsible for collecting biological samples, studying and conducting tests on biological specimens to support the development of a new diagnostic protocol / system. This role involves working with both established and emerging technologies, including single-cell analysis, microchip platforms, cell sorters, MACS, FACS, NGS, qPCR, ddPCR etc.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform laboratory tests using a variety of instruments, computer software, and advanced laboratory equipment Apply both conventional and innovative methods to support the establishment of new diagnostic workflows Accurately document and report experimental findings for review and interpretation by scientists
Operate on-site in a laboratory setting Primary Job Functions
Conduct both routine and non-routine laboratory tests and analyses using appropriate technical instruments and equipment to support scientific experiments and investigations Receive, collect, and process biological samples, ensuring proper handling and safe disposal of laboratory waste Accurately calculate, log, and report test results using laboratory information systems and computer software Prepare, set up, and oversee laboratory experiments
Perform quality control procedures and calibrate laboratory equipment as needed Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and that the laboratory workspace remains clean and organized Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental regulations, consistently practicing safe work habits Stay up to date with relevant scientific advancements and technologies to improve the efficiency of lab operations
Manage laboratory inventory by ordering and maintaining necessary supplies and resources. Maintain detailed and organized records of all experiments and procedures.
Essential Job Requirements
Education MSc Degree in biology, biotechnology, molecular biology or relevant field
Experience / Background
Minimum 1 year of experience working in a pharma/biotech laboratory settings
Skills Proficient in performing both routine and novel laboratory tests, including data analysis, using technical equipment such as FACS (mandatory / very strong preference), qPCR (mandatory / strong preference), MACS (preferred), ddPCR (preferred), and NGS (preferred), along with relevant software tools. Experience handling and processing blood samples (advantage) Ability to learn and follow specific scientific techniques Proficiency in calibrating and maintaining technical laboratory equipment Proficient in Microsoft Office package and FlowJo software
Strong attention to detail
Professional proficiency in English, with the ability to write clear reports and correspondence
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently
Strong time management skills
Ability to work in a team settings
