Quality Engineer
Name of Position: Quality Engineer
Reports to: Quality Manager Print Employee Name
I. Summary:
1. Participation in QS department activities, including quality control and customer technical service.
2. Provide expertise and guidance to ensure customer satisfaction.
3. Responsible for efficiency and productivity improvement, as well as continuous quality improvement.
II. Core Activities:
1. Institute and monitor quality system including but not limited to:
a. Performing QMS Internal Audits.
b. Update and distribute internal / external standards and specifications.
c. Track / review quality standard operating procedures.
d. Initiate corrective actions / distribute to appropriate departments, conduct follow-up.
e. Document controller of QMS documents, including writing , updating and distribution or posting on the network of such documents.
f. Investigate / initiate claimed material concerns (internal and external), through the customer concern log.
g. Monitor and manage claims when called upon by the Quality Manager.
h. Mill / customer on-site contact, as needed.
i. Interface with Inside Sales, Production and Maintenance Department.
j. Provide internal and external Quality improvement communication.
k. Participate in Control Plan and PFEMA reviews, document updates.
l. SPC / Data trending.
m. Create Control Plans and PFEMA’s as needed.
n. Perform IMDS updates, as required.
o. Support IATF 16949 activities.
p. Perform other activities as directed by Quality manager.
q. SPC and MSA activities.
r. PPAP’S
s. Spec Approvals
t. Feed forward maps.
u. Testing as needed.
v. Run @ Rate as needed.
2. Has the authority to stop production if necessary to correct quality or safety problems.
III. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
1. Statistical Process Control (SPC and MSA) skills.
2. Computer skills.
3. Quality Management System expertise.
4. Good communication and organization skills.
5. Ability to handle multiple tasks.
6. Knowledge of steel making, processing, stamping, and welding.
IV. Work Style:
1. Adherence to company policies and procedures.
2. Arriving punctually at work and having a good attitude is mandatory.
3. Establish a positive and professional working relationship with division personnel; maintain professionalism with department employees, customers, vendors, and management.
V. Experience and Education:
1. 5 years’ experience in Q.C. or production of steel service center.
VI. Training:
1. Basic Orientation
2. IATF 16949 Internal Auditor Training
3. QMS Document Training or Experience
